The two latest Build-To-Order projects– which will be the first projects to come under the HDB’s new policy – will add almost 1,500 new flats to the public housing market.


Launching the Compassvale Pearl and Punggol Sapphire projects yesterday, the HDB also said several BTO projects in Punggol, Sengkang, Bukit Panjang and Woodlands would be unveiled in the next half of the year.


This would bring the total number of BTO flats to come on stream to 8,400 units this year.


The two latest developments will be located near the $30-million Punggol Waterfront Town, where a 4.2km-long waterway will serve as a focal point for water activities and al fresco dining.


The 420-unit Compassvale Pearl will see a pilot water closet layout. Each unit will house a “concept toilet” – consisting of separate cubicles for the shower room and the lavatory, and a shared wash basin – which allows for “the concurrent use of the facilities” by household members.


According to the HDB’s indicative price range, its four- and five-room flats will cost between $216,000 and $367,000 each.


Over at the pricier Punggol Sapphire project, all 1,065 units would be “uniquely designed and oriented” to provide “maximum vantage views of the surroundings”.


Prospective residents in more than half of the units would get to experience vertical gardening, with green balconies or planters extended from the living rooms.


Its four- and five-room units would set buyers back by between $234,000 and $396,000. Five-room loft units would go for between $442,000 and $477,000. — LOH CHEE KONG
